How the Sedgwick County Court Calendar Works
The DC18 Court Schedule links separate seven-day Flexible Calendar PDFs for Criminal/Traffic/Juvenile, Civil, Family Law, and Probate, plus civil and limited hearing results and a prior-workday cases-filed report.
Each report groups rows under judge, division, and courtroom headers and carries a date range and print timestamp. DC18 warns that settings can change, so a PDF is a current aid rather than a certified notice or full register.
Sedgwick Department PDF Map
Choose the report by case stream. CR holds district criminal, traffic, and juvenile sections. CV covers regular civil settings, FL covers family, and PR covers probate. Past civil events use Hearing Results.
| Future criminal event | CR Flexible Calendar |
|---|---|
| Future civil event | CV Flexible Calendar |
| Past civil result | CV Hearing Results |
| Filed notice or order | Records Department |
The distinction prevents a reader from searching a result digest for a future date or treating a new-case list as a hearing schedule.
Sedgwick County Court Date Lookups
Begin with the complete case number and court. Kansas CaseSearch can show case-specific settings, while the department PDF shows a seven-day calendar. Compare both sources before relying on the date.
- Open CaseSearch, select District and Sedgwick County, and search the exact case number.
- Open the matching DC18 calendar and use CTRL+F for that number.
- Read the date, time, judge, division, courtroom, hearing type, and comment.
- Call 316-660-5900 or the department when sources conflict.
Search Sedgwick PDFs With CTRL+F
DC18 recommends Adobe Reader Search or CTRL+F. Search the complete case number, then read across the row and check the judge, division, and courtroom header. Names can occur more than once and are less reliable keys.
The inspected criminal report ran 113 pages, civil 79, family 42, and probate eight, though counts change. The daily Docket Information page is another current route, not a certified history.
The official calendar index shows the separate-report layout.

Court Settings: What Each Field Means
Read a Sedgwick County setting as a complete row. A date without its hearing type can mislead, while a type without the division or courtroom can send a visitor to the wrong place. Comments may identify remote video, status, default, or a motion.
| Date | The scheduled day within the report range. |
|---|---|
| Time | The call or hearing time, which may be shared by many cases. |
| Courtroom | The room tied to the judge and division header. |
| Judge | The judicial officer assigned to the calendar group. |
| Setting Type | Arraignment, pretrial, motion, plea, status, trial, sentencing, or another local label. |
Sedgwick Calendar Terms in Plain Words
Flexible Calendar is the local name for a multi-day setting report. Hearing Results is a past-event digest. A status conference checks progress, a pretrial conference addresses readiness, and a motion setting concerns a request for court action. None establishes the final outcome by itself.
- Case style
- The caption, not the case number.
- Hearing comment
- A short note that may identify remote video or the issue set.
- CSO
- A court-services-officer field when applicable.
- Journal entry
- The filed order that can memorialize a ruling.
First appearance, arraignment, preliminary hearing, plea, probation violation, and sentencing occur at different stages. Preserve the exact court label when asking the clerk about a date.
When a Court Date Moves
A judge may reset or continue a setting, and the next PDF may show the new row while the former report no longer does. A rebuilt calendar, courtroom reassignment, holiday closure, or filed order can also alter what appeared earlier.
Disappearance from a PDF does not mean dismissal. Recheck CaseSearch, download the current calendar, and call the clerk. A filed notice, signed order, or journal entry is stronger evidence than a live report.
Sedgwick Locations Change the Clues
Main-courthouse criminal, civil, family, and traffic work centers on 525 N Main. Juvenile and Probate departments are at 1900 E Morris. The 2026 assignment sheet ties divisions to judges and rooms, so matching the header to the building is part of reading the schedule.
A DC18 change beginning July 6, 2026 routes stalking, sexual-assault, and human-trafficking PFA/PFSSAHT hearings to remote Zoom settings Monday through Wednesday mornings, while PFA hearings are in person Thursdays. That routing instruction does not make a protected file public.
General court sessions under local Rule 107 usually run from 9 a.m. to noon and from 1:30 to 5 p.m. on weekdays unless the court orders otherwise. A case-specific setting still controls. Traffic also works differently: the district traffic docket can place 80 to 120 matters at a shared time, and the District Attorney warns that waits can reach two hours. Monday through Wednesday include afternoon traffic sessions, while Thursday and Friday do not. Holidays and closure notices can displace those patterns, which is another reason to verify the live Sedgwick County court schedule.
Missed Settings and What Comes Next
Contact the proper clerk or attorney promptly, give the exact case number, and ask what the register and filed order show. Do not assume a new date can be selected online. The next step depends on the court, setting type, and any order entered after the absence.
Missed a setting? A failure to appear can lead to a warrant or other court action, depending on the case and order.
Call the clerk at once and consult counsel about the safest way to address the missed Sedgwick County setting.
Sedgwick Municipal and Federal Calendars
Municipal calendars are city-specific. Derby generally schedules Thursday dockets, Haysville uses Tuesday sessions, and Park City and Bel Aire publish their own patterns. A Wichita ordinance case begins with Wichita Municipal Court, not the district PDF. Call the city clerk for a city ticket.
Federal civil and criminal matters use the U.S. District Court for the District of Kansas and PACER/CM/ECF. The federal court-information page identifies that separate system.

The federal image reinforces the boundary: Kansas CaseSearch does not return a federal Wichita setting.
Sedgwick Calendar Confirmation Channels
A setting can appear in four places: the CaseSearch case view, a seven-day Flexible Calendar, a past Hearing Results report, or a filed notice or journal entry held by the clerk. Each has a different purpose. CaseSearch is case-specific but can omit restricted or older information. The PDF is convenient for a date range but can change. A results report says how a past event was coded, not what the signed ruling provides. The filed record is the strongest source when the precise order matters.
DC18 accepts a written records request when the calendar is not enough. Give the case number, caption if known, document title or date, delivery choice, and whether certification is required. Submit through sg.micro@kscourts.gov, fax 316-941-5358, mail, or the sixth-floor counter at 525 N Main. The public terminal is another fallback for lawful information or document images not available on the internet. Sealed and restricted material remains unavailable without the required authority.
Phone routing also depends on the issuing court. DC18 uses 316-660-5900, with traffic questions routed through 316-660-9150 prompts. Wichita, Derby, Haysville, Park City, and Bel Aire each keep municipal settings through their own clerks. Calling the district clerk about a municipal notice, or a city clerk about a state case, can produce an apparent mismatch even when both calendars are accurate.
Sedgwick Hearing Results Versus Orders
The civil and limited Hearing Results reports can help determine whether an earlier setting was coded as held or as a failure to appear. They do not supply the complete ruling, explain every consequence, or replace a signed judgment. Search the report by the exact case number, note the hearing date and result label, and then check the case register or request the filed journal entry from DC18 Records. This sequence is especially important when the calendar and result use short labels. A current setting, a past result, and the court's final order are three different records, even when all refer to the same Sedgwick County case.
